Mamidikaya Roti Pachadi||Raw Mango Chutney

Mamidikaya roti pachadi means an instant raw mango chutney prepared by using mortar and pestle. Tangy raw mangoes are crushed and blended  into a paste to give an extra aromatic taste.

In Telugu language raw mango is known as mamidikaya and roti means mortar and pestle.

Mamidikaya roti pachadi is simple chutney preparation which can be prepared in minutes without grinding or blending in mixer, a quick tangy chutney recipe in village style which tastes super spicy and sour, my Mother in law used to prepare this quick and easy raw mango roti pachadi in simple way without using any spices and other ingredients like coconut onion lentils.

Ingredients required to prepare Mamidikaya roti pachadi/Raw mango chutney

  1. Chopped raw mango – 1 Cup
  2. Chili powder – 1 tsp
  3. Salt – 1 tsp

Ingredients required for Tempering

  1. Oil – 1 tsp
  2. Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  3. Cumin sedds – 1 tsp
  4. Turmeric powder – 1/2tsp
  5. Crushed garlic pods 7 to 10
  6. Curry leaves – 5
  7. Coriander leaves – To garnish.

Step by step preparation of Mamidikaya Roti Pachadi//Raw Mango Chyney

Step – 1 

Firstly clean raw mango with water, peel mango with a peeler then chop into medium size cubes, put chopped mango into the motar.

Step – 2 

Now add 1 tsp of salt and red chili powder or as per your requirement into the mortar.

Step – 3

Crush mango with the help of pestle with your hands until mango becomes coarse in texture. now scoop out the coarse mango into a bowl with spoon.

Step – 4

Now take a small tempering pan , heat 1 tbsp. of oil in a low flame, add 1 tsp. of mustard seeds 1 tsp. of cumin seeds, roast and splutter for few seconds ,then add crushed garlic roast for a minute, then add 1/2 of turmeric powder into the pan, cook for few seconds, add coriander leaves.

Step – 5

Now add the prepared tempering mix into the prepared raw mango chutney, mix altogether, then garnish with coriander leaves.

Step -6

Serve raw mango chutney or mamidikaya roti pachadi with dosa or plain rice or roti.

Note

  • Mangoes should be fresh and raw.
  • You can use ginger in this chutney preparation.
  • You can crush ginger along with mangoes.
  • You can blend the chutney in a mixer jar.
