Roasted phool makhana//Fox Nuts (Lotus flower seeds) is Indian savory recipe which you can enjoy as your tea time snack.
Phool makhana or Lotus flower seeds are roasted in 1 tsp of ghee or clarified butter until light brown in colour then tossed in temperd spices and nuts like peanuts groundnuts almonds , spiced up with dry spices like coriander powder, Aamchur (Dry mango powder) cumin powder and garam masala powder with required amount of red chili powder and salt.
Crispy and spicy phool makhana is crunchy and nutty to taste.
HEALTH BENIFITS OF FOX NUTS|| PHOOL MAKHANA
Phool makhana or lotus flower seeds are rich in essential nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus which are otherwise skipped in a daily diet.
These nutrients support bone health and immunity.
Makhanas are rich in antioxidants such as epicatechin, gallic acid, and chlorogenic acid. These antioxidants can also reduce inflammation which can be a cause of arthritis and some bowel diseases.

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED TO PREPARE ROASTED PHOOL MAKHANA
Fox Nuts - 100 gms
Ground nuts _-1 cup
Cashew nuts - 1 cup
Ghee - 1 tbsp
Sesame seeds - 1 tsp
Coriander seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Salt - 1 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 10
Green chillis - 8
Almonds -1cup
STEP BY STEP PREPARATION METHOD OF ROASTED PHOOL MAKHANA
Step 1)
To prepare roasted phool makhana or fox nuts savoury snack, heat 1 tbsp ghee or clarified butter in a non stick pan, add 1 cup of phool makhana.
Step 2)
Roast in a slow flame until crisp and brown in colour, transfer into a bowl.
Step 3)
In the same pan add 1 tbsp of ghee, heat for few seconds until it melts, add 1 cup of ground nuts into the pan, roast in a slow flame.
Step 4)
Add 1 cup of split cashew nuts, roast until crunchy and light brown in colour.
Step 5)
Now add 5 to 6 chopped green chillies and curry leaves, sauté and cook for a minute, then add roasted phool khana into the pan, mix with the tempered nuts.
Step 6)
Add 1 tsp of sesame seeds, sauté and roast.
Step 7)
Add 1 tsp of red chilli powder, required amount of salt, 1 tsp of Aamchur powder or dry mango powder, 1 tsp of coriander powder, mix well.
Step 8)
Now add 1 tsp of garam masala powder or chat powder.
Step 9)
Now roast all the ingredients and dry masalas until crisp and crunchy.
Step 10)
Serve with hot brewing coffee or tea of your choice.
